Cristina Canepa
Born, lives and works in São Paulo, graduated in Advertising from FAAP.
From her sensory memory, Cristina Canepa portrays the harmonious diversity of nature in the context of the Amazon Forest and the enjoyment of her body with the environment where she lives and transits.
Whether with layers of paint or brush strokes of charcoal, its language encompasses the abstract and the figurative expressing impermanence and fluidity.
The paintings, drawings, photographs, metal engravings and videos present actions condensed into fragments, lights, layers and movements in which the landscape and the body dance.
She attended and attends workshops of renowned masters who have contributed to her continuous artistic improvement-Evandro Carlos Jardim, Sérgio Fingermann, Paulo Pasta among others.
The Amazon, in fact, is a turning point in its trajectory: the region that has been visited several times for 15 years, appears first as a landscape (2011) from which it approaches and penetrates - until it touches the tree trunk (2017 ) - and goes deeper - until you revolve the layers of fallen leaves (2019). Always within the same ecosystem.
“The act of painting becomes the very content of painting”
