Jan Tomas is a multifaceted designer, creative director, typographer, and motion designer whose work connects innovation with aesthetics rooted in conceptual thinking. With over two decades of international recognition, his design journey is defined by pioneering typographic systems, dynamic branding, and future-forward visual communication.
He has received international acclaim with awards including those for Mercedes-Benz, the League of Historical Cities, the Type Directors Club, the AGI Poster Competition, and international biennials of poster design. His typefaces, developed for animated media, were published by Linotype and later included in the Monotype Library. This marked a milestone in digital type design.
His work has been exhibited at DDD Gallery in Osaka, the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg, and internationally across continents from Europe, US to Asia.
In 2011 he founded Future Typo, a platform for advanced typography and experimental design that integrates 3D type, digital sculpture, and motion-based communication. Future Typo explores the evolution of typographic expression across physical, digital, and virtual space.
Since 2015, he has given lectures at universities and led workshops across the United States, Europe, and Asia. His education focuses on brand design, motion design, Latin and animated typography, motion-based visual communication, and the future of digital visual language including the creative use of AI.
His design practice merges conceptual clarity with technological depth. He creates intelligent visual systems across print, screen, and space.
