Simona
Tavassi was born in Rome from a family of artists. Her first master
was her maternal grandfather who disclosed to her the secrets of
painting, but above all, he initiated her to oil painting.
The
artistic formation of Simona Tavassi does not follow a common path,
as she managed to create her own artistic identity, developing her
personal style. She passed on through figurative art in which she
used to paint landscapes, and finally reached a form of abstract
painting where the landscape is transformed into marquetry and
colorful strips.
The
70s were the first years of her career, and she spent them studying
colors traveling towards different country, from India to
Afghanistan, from Pakistan to Persia and then to Greece and Turkey.
The colors and the perfumes of these places marked her inner self
indelibly, as in these countries she discovered the warmth of the
natural pigments and earth colors which would become her means of
expression.
In
the 80s, she moved to New York where she lived and worked as a
textile designer, and at the beginning of this century she is in
Monaco, where she worked and exposed her painting in different
galleries.
In
2007 she came back to Italy and started living in Sardinia whose
rocks, sea and landscape inspires her.
Her
works of art have been parts of private and public exposition in
Italy and abroad.
