Read MoreI had always had an eye and talent for drawing as a child. I dabbled in the craft growing up and also as a young adult, though I never had any intentions of becoming an artist professionally, and I had given it up altogether before I turned 27.
It was actually a gruelling divorce, some tough life lessons, depression and anxiety that led me back to creating again in 2005. Painting gave me strength and focus, and filled my heart and soul with self-worth. It was also a time when the Internet was exploding, which opened up my small world and sparked and encouraged my fast-emerging artistic dreams. In 2006 I took the plunge and decided to follow art as a career path.
Early in 2011, a prestige gallery in New York contacted and encouraged for me to submit a portfolio to their gallery, not only cementing my idea of being a professional artist but also leading to many more incredible opportunities over the past seven years. I have exhibited numerous times within Australia and overseas; in the US, Italy, France and London, while also racking up some great awards along the way.
I am a self-proclaimed perfectionist; but I have learnt to treasure it, which resonates in my work, particularly in my strong lines. I love the striking, boldness of saturated acrylics, the splendour of intense brilliant block colour and striking contrast, and the sensual curves of the female form. With hand and brush I achieve beautiful unyielding saturation while exhibiting a meticulous sense of order resulting in an impeccable print-like quality, often with a splash of sass.
I create empowering paintings of women for women. Celebrating our diversity, revelling in our beauty and sexuality, revealing our sensuality, our secrets and mystery, and most significantly, saluting our confidence, strength and spirited strength of character. Inspired greatly by my own journey of years of self-discovery, of the ups from the downs, and the determination and strength I didn’t even know had existed.
My art will make a bold statement in any space without saying a damned word, not only filling your rooms with originality and style but also igniting a perfectly unique, vivacious energy.
