Susanna Tan is a visual artist and researcher whose interdisciplinary practice explores how plants mirror and hold human emotion. Working with text, image, sculpture, and site-responsive installations, she investigates themes of grief, memory, and ecological intimacy. Her work often engages deeply with materiality—using organic, found, and tactile materials to evoke the sensory and ephemeral qualities of emotional experience. Her project Sad Plants Index traces the emotional symbolism of plants across cultures, involving community storytelling and participatory methods. She has exhibited internationally and undertaken residencies at the Singapore Botanic Gardens and VILLA WASAKU in Onomichi, Japan. Tan holds a BFA from Goldsmiths, University of London, is a recipient of the TCC-LASALLE Artist-Curator Alumni Award, and is the founder of 花花世界 / Studio Fah (@fahfahsaigai), an extended studio practice.
