Irene was born in Genoa in 1986.
Bioengineer by training, Irene obtained a Ph.D. on the mechanisms of motor learning and worked at
IIT to develop robotic devices for rehabilitation. The world of algorithms did not satisfy her and she
decided to undertake artistic studies to continue her research with a different language. She
attended the Arteincampo art school and enrolled in the Nude School of the Accademia di Genoa.
In 2018 Irene participated in the "Ultracorpi" exhibition , where she presented for the 1st time her
research on the expressiveness of the human gaze. Later she realized a project in which she
translated into painting the concepts of lightness, speed, accuracy, visibility and multiplicity, inspired
by Calvino’s book "American Lessons".
In 2019 she participated in the artistic residence "La ferita del possibile" in Volterra and was
awarded in 2nd place. Also in 2019 she collaborated as an illustrator in the creation of two books, an
illustrated version of "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe and an unpublished story "Gaia and the people
of the Moon" where addressed the human issues of pain and fear.
In 2020 her project Apnea was selected in first place in the European call "CreArt. Network of Cities for Artistic Creation" and won an artistic residency in Skopje (Republic of North Macedonia).
Her works are welcomed at the
Galleria Arte Studio in Genoa.
