Art will remain the most astonishing activity of human kind present in our struggles and driving dreams into reality .
I’m TAIWO AYODEJI FATAI I'm a painting artist ,a set designer, a fashion designer and an all round stage actor including
singing and dancing . I've been in the world of art since my elementary days , I met with MR IBENERO IKECHKWU who
taught me how to make greeting cards and also taught me some basic forms of drawing using the geometry shapes .
Many times he would paint and i got fascinated by it and all I could think of is how to also acquire the skill and over
the years, I have become what I once used to wise for . Being an artist has in a way given me the opportunity to meet
with some amazing people in Nigeria and also outside Nigeria. I build set for stage play also for the theatre house I
belong to and I've been able to gain more knowledge each time I practices or get to work on movie set.
I was born on September 17 1995 in ketu Lagos . My parents are both from the same home town in iyin Ekiti state
Nigeria . I had my element school at SICENCE FOUNDATION where at that time i already developed my my love for
craft making such as wrist watch , telephone , boats , jets, ring among others ,all these where made out of paper .
Moving to Ajegunle from ketu stopped me from continuing the paper craft I do, then i got into PROMISE
INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL to hopefully complete my Elementary studies. However, i developed my love for sport
majorly racing and football. A year into all of these , my parents decided to move down to Ikorodu. When I was yet
settling in ,so We moved and i got into SOA ( SCHOOL OF ACADEMY) where i was able to involve myself deeply in
football and also so basic studies in fine art . I really love art so i learnt mostly by practicing on my own in my house
and i played a lot of street football.
Time came when i had to complete my Basic five so i moved to TUNKEM INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL. Then i will do a lot
of drawings of frictional characters mostly from the comic book SUPA STRIKERS . I moved into high school TUNKEM
INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE where i was exposed to many activities like drama, dance and music , so also fashion, racing
and football . For five years i was able to represent TUNKEM in football competitions with other schools , Dancing ,
100 meters race and Relay race. Within the school, i did drama, music , and dance, where i won scholarship for dancing
BATA dances (a traditional yoruba dance) .However my love for art still wax stronger as i started gathering black clay
from site sand to sculpt Random HEADS and MASKS then these where my valuables. My dad never liked me practicing
art there was one time he beat me and told me to clean off the drawing of AVATER THE LAST AIR BENDER and his team
on the wall of my room. I could say that day i felt bad the most . I took my WACE at GREAT ANCHOL SCHOOL . I got
into LAGOS STATE POLYTECHNIC where i studied INDUSTRIAL ART. I later went to UNIVERSAL STUDIOS to learn more
on drawing . During my IT, i got more in touch with part of me that wants to paint so much so I went to MAPOLY in
ogun state where i met Mr BELLO AZEEM whose wife was the first oil painting on canvas portrait i ever did and it came
out beautifully . Thereafter i went to ABDULSALAM STUDIO in Lagos to further my training. We were given subject
matters to paint .
GOT into PHOTOGRAPHY and VIDEO MAKING because I had time and i had opportunity to learn . I got myself a
digital camera to start with and i extensively expressed myself while learning PHOTOGRAPHY, during this time I
won few competitions from CLOSE UP and BOBO FOODS among others
I work mostly in the night cause i enjoy the peace and quiet that nature brings. Although, sometimes I’m being
disturbed by the loud of generators.
WHEN it feels like I'm heart broken or every time I have an opportunity to feel pain of what is happing in the country,
seeing people going through the issues of life including myself, I see myself as a solution provider turning pain into
gain bringing relief to issues that piers the heart and i use all that feeling to paint and it always came out nice . My
Major medium then was oil on canvas and i love oil because of its consistency . Like i can come back a week later and
its still wet and i continue from where i stopped although now i work with Acrylic which dry's fasts and also its base is
every where which is water unlike oil some times i use petrol or kerosene and the smell is not healthy. Most times I
am fascinated about the world of women and I have painted women anatomy over the years . I get inspired by them
I am a short 5.3ft Taiwo Ayodeji from Nigeria.
