I work with the imaginary archives of our cultural pictorial memory.
In exploring the relationships between body, intimate and collective memory in a sort of hyper-attentive perception I merge diverse narratives into polyphonic visions. While seeking to capture the fictions, moods and abysses of an image it is the intense emotional-intellectual exchange that matters in my artistic decisions. I think of pictures as opaque and transparent. I think of darknesses that open up, of surfaces eroding. I am interested in ambiguous context, in thresholds and liminality, in crossing lines, shifting from a simulated distance, as if in a mirror. It's an imaginative setup allowing for unconscious memories to unfold. I mainly work with photography and digital transformation processes, but sometimes also with painting, film and various other media. My approach is ultimately timeless, whereas my tools and materials may infinitely change.
Since 2005 I live and work as artist in Vienna, Austria.
I studied Painting in Stockholm, Sweden, Philosphy at Ludwig-Maximilian-University in Munich, and later took to studying Film at the University of Visual Arts (HFF) in Munich, where I was granted an Excellence Sholarship.
My work has been exhibited in various renowned Galleries, was published in catalogues and has been presented at important international Art Fairs like Art Beijing, China (2012) Romy Contemporary, Italy (2012), Art Cologne, Germany (2018, 2019), Art Austria, (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023), Paris Photo, France (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021) and AIPAD, New York City (2022, 2023), and is included in private and Museum collections in Europe, China and the US.
