Mariana Süssekind is a Brazilian artist living in Berlin. Graduated in Visual Communication, post-graduated in Photography and in Documentary Cinema, has completed a master's degree in Communication and Aesthetics with the research project “Fotossequências - Between static and moving image, lacunar narratives in contemporary art”. Since 2001 has been working with film and video, editing art videos, television shows and documentary. Mariana has directed the short film “Estado de Emergência”, awarded at RECINE- International Archival Film Festival and the documentaries “O Espaço do Preso” and “Amadora”; and taught editing theory and practice in film schools in Rio de Janeiro.
Mariana’s artistic research combines artisanal techniques of analog photography and digital images to address topics such as, self-representation, memory and montage. Through experimenting with uncontrolled images, and an agonizing observance of time, the artist dives into the feminine territory, where her body is the measure, the precise form of her possibilities in the now.
