I'm Max Sungkur , an artist born in Mauritius, blending French and Mauritian roots. Currently residing in Mauritius, I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts and have passionately wielded my paintbrush for 12 years. My inspirations weave through diverse realms, ranging from figurative art influenced by the impressionist era to the rich tapestry of African art. The fusion of my cultural heritage and artistic exploration is evident in my work, creating a narrative that bridges continents and periods. Through my paintings, I invite viewers to embark on a visual journey that reflects the harmonious intersection of my dual identity and diverse influences.
I first studied in Paris for seven years at the Paris college of Art . then I decided to come back to motherland Mauritius.
I worked in my workshop for days and nights, trying, and experimenting new techniques and exploring History of Art . Then decide to move to Tanzania and discover Africa where I opened in 2015 my own gallery .
years, after in 2020 I decided to create a unique concept, mixing art gallery, and a restaurant. The place is now called Correspondances Brasserie and is located in Mauritius . My temporary exhibition takes place in the gallery , surrounded by wall paintings , sculptures and paintings .
