Gaby Studer was born in Switzerland in 1968 in the Wehntal
valley, near Zurich. She has always been fascinated by creating
something using her hands. In addition to choosing a creative
profession, there has always been space for paint, cloth, paper
and other materials, to aid her creativity.
During a stay, of several years, in the Bernese Oberland she first
became aware of the papercutting technique. Fascinated by the
simplicity of the material and it's infinite possibility, she attended
her first papercutting course and immediately found her calling. It
was followed by training courses in design and cutting
techniques which she has continued until present. The reduction
to black and white is an everlasting challenge; yet she manages
to do landscapes, pictures of nature and moods using the knife
and scissors to draw.Currently, she has turned away from the
purely traditional papercut, and finds her Inspiration in the beauty
and perfection of nature. It is her wish as an artist to take the
viewer with her on a journey in silence, and open their eye to our
beautiful and wonderful world. The scissors, as a tool and the
scalpel is supplemented, and therefore pictures, lights and installations emerge
of filigree magic. Various exhibitions in
Switzerland and abroad have shown the award-winning artist's
work (Salon des Beaux Arts Paris, Triennale du Papier Charmey)
and she is delighted to get the opportunity to show her work to a
wide audience..
