Ryszard Sliwka has a background training in Art, Architecture and Urban Design obtained in the USA (St Louis), Canada (Toronto) and the UK.
In addition to Galleries in Canada and the US, he has also exhibited in Group Shows in Italy and continues to show work in the UK.
The last ten years have been pre-occupied with the phenomena of 'liquid modernity, a term coined by the sociologist Zygmunt Bauman.
One series of paintings evolved as a metaphorical and visual response to a specific event: the sudden electronic dissolution of a Television screen image brought about a signal disruption. This transformation of image into a matrix of coloured pixels has a curious visceral, vibratory quality that conveys a sense of the fragility and transience characteristic of our present time.
A second series emerged as a counterpoint, with a return to the figurative tradition as an act of recollection.
