I am intrigued by essence and absence.
My artistic "training" is based on over twenty years of observation of every form of art, and then I arrive at my personal expressive synthesis. In my career, I found two essential artists for me: Edward Hopper (painter) and Gregory Crewdson (photographer). Art is above all an expression of suffering, of anguish, of not being able to find a true meaning of life. It is in this interstice that I have focused my attention. It is here, where my work has found its source of inspiration. I take pictures in the same way as I could draw, simply while I’m working on a photograph I have more options for manipulation. For this reason, I consider myself "not" as a photographer in the normal sense of the term, but an artist who uses photography as a painter uses a paintbrush or as a writer uses words. In summary, I am a conceptual artist who uses photography to express myself. I shoot through rapid movement of scenery: this is the starting point for subtraction, exasperation of contrast and scarification of the image until nothing but essence is left, an intimate and hidden projection of Self, an outstretched hand towards the viewer. The viewer is completely immersed in a psychedelic dimension. In my artworks the viewer will ask himself the meaning of time between past, present and future. In my artworks there is always a street, because streets are a symbolic place of transit, of transition, of passage, of thoughts, of dreams, of illusions, of tears, of loneliness, in suspension towards our mysteries. The street is part of us, without roads we are stationary. The time is frozen, without any connection with the world, outside any context, without no visible place to reach. The streets simply vanish into darkness, bringing us back to where we started: in the nothingness. I have discovered a dimension that combines relaxation and alienation, a sort of comfort zone where that precarious balance that is, the base where the complicated craft of existence seems to emerge. My aim is to be original, distinctive and identifiable. It is not common among photographers artists who often travel in many areas with the risk to lose their fil rouge. I chose to stay in well-defined areas in favor of coherence.
