SILVIA MORANDI
Performative research: the place and the body
Silvia Morandi applies her own research into performative languages within a practice that embraces cinema, theatre and dance.
She loves to dissolve the boundaries between art and life and devote herself to an area of totalising experimentation.
By referring to diversified contexts, she is able to grasp the reflection of private, social and political situations in the intimate lives of people.
In the context of site-specific projects, the place where Silvia Morandi works is the origin of research: investigating the relationship between the body and the environment, the performer draws on a form of listening that amplifies the sensorial dimension of presence.
By varying the forms and dynamics of the interaction with the elements, the artist defines a nocturnal setting of risk and mental oscillation.
Included in the physical space of the action, the public shares, witnesses and co-generates the vibrations of the venue together with the performer.
Training
She trained at the Studio Dominique de Fazio, heir to Lee Strasberg's teaching at the Actors Studio in New York (Professional Actor Program, Rome, Los Angeles).
At the same time she incorporates her own path through the study of Contemporary Dance and Body Mind Centring.
She was awarded the Diploma of Dance Therapy by Art Therapy in Bologna.
Collaborations
Since 2013 she has worked as a performer and dramatist with the internationally renowned choreographer Gabriella Maiorino (Diversi Due, Mirror(s), FM); from 2017 with the artist Hannes Egger and with the video makers benemalen and Nuno Escudeiro, as well as with the collective TiefKollektiv Profondo Collettivo.
She presents her performances and video performances at festivals and in spaces dedicated to performative languages and contemporary art.
As a teacher, she offers workshops and laboratories in her own studio (Studio Raeitija, Bolzano) and in collaboration with organisations and institutions such as the Faculty of Design and the Museion (Museum of Contemporary Art) in Bolzano, and with Art Therapy in Bologna.
