Joanna Silver is a multimedia artist creating medium sized paintings, serigraphy prints, and installations. Having
been born and raised in Miami, there is a vibrant, saturated use of color that permeates
her work. She received her undergraduate degree from the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, DC. After working in fashion and as a freelance artist, she decided to get her MFA in Painting and is currently a candidate at SCAD in Savannah. Her most recent body
of work emphasizes a reductive color palette with a color and shape-based
language to create something reminiscent of what it once was. Joanna is interested
in nostalgic moments and the items we leave behind. Her process includes taking
pictures over time, then using these images to cut out shapes like puzzle
pieces of color, and fitting them back together to create a visual language and sense
of memory.
