In doing so, he subverts the materials’ original use. The fresh meaning he imbues them with reveals a new dimension: a counter-use, an alternative contextualisation that opens up an unsuspected realm of possibilities. Often conceived from humble, everyday or industrial materials, ennobled by the work of the hand and its meticulousness, by the time invested, and by uncompromising attention to detail, his works invite a different perception of the scale of values. The immediacy of sensations, the self-narration of the object and its materials, and contemplation thus become vehicles for a positive beauty. Naturally curious about everything, he explores materials, techniques and mediums as one might stroll through a garden with branching paths; he experiments, he tests, he innovates, he pushes boundaries to share his questions about matter. “To learn is to be surprised,” he often says; first of all oneself, and consequently the public.
After studying Cultural Mediation, he began his career in fashion. Coming from a family of artisans, he naturally gravitated towards tailoring and the craftsmanship of the luxury sector. After spending several years at various fashion houses (Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Maison Martin Margiela, Louis Vuitton), he founded his own studio, Atelier Hapax, through which he designs unique pieces to order for private clients and also collaborates with companies on artistic exhibition projects, set designs, creative communication tools and shop window displays… (Hermès, Baccarat, Dior, Nike, Balenciaga, Ikea, Hennessy…).
