Tanmay Shah is a filmmaker and visual artist from Ahmedabad, India. His practice moves between painting, photography, cinema and long-form research, exploring ecological memory, urban perception, fragile habitats and the emotional structures of landscape.
He is the founder of FridayFictionFilms and has worked across documentary, social, institutional and experimental film. His earlier works, including Pinch of Salt and Walls That Matter, have received international recognition, and his short film WOO streamed on Disney+ Hotstar. In 2015, he created the 52 Films Project, making 52 short films in 52 weeks on social issues, a record-listed artistic and documentary undertaking.
His recent visual art project, Borrowed Earth, began as an exhibition at Amdavad ni Gufa, Ahmedabad, in 2026, bringing together acrylic paintings and photographic studies around climate perception, ecological memory, fragile habitats and the emotional distance between people and planetary crisis.
