Monika Shaded (b. 1983, Ciechanów, Poland) is a Polish visual artist working primarily with site-specific installations, paper and fibre. Through poetic works, she explores themes of memory, transience, home and spirituality, investigating the fragile relationship between materiality and the immaterial.
She graduated with distinction in Painting from the Faculty of Art Education at the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznań in 2008. She received her PhD in Fine Arts in 2013 and is currently an Assistant Professor at the VIII Painting Studio at the University of the Arts Poznań.
In 2026, she was selected for the 8th Contextile – Contemporary Textile Art Biennial (Guimarães, Portugal), one of the leading international events dedicated to contemporary textile art. She is the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, including the Second Prize at the 4th International Biennial of Artistic Textile in Poznań, and was a finalist of the International Lodz Abstract Art Festival (LAAF). Her artistic practice has been supported through scholarships from the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the City of Poznań and the Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region.
Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Poland, including the Arsenał Municipal Gallery in Poznań and BWA Galleries in Bydgoszcz and Piła, as well as internationally at Villa Farsetti (Santa Maria di Sala, Venice, Italy). She has also participated in festivals including FAMA, SLOT Art Festival and Poznań Art Week.
Alongside her artistic practice, she works as a curator and educator, collaborating with cultural institutions and teaching drawing in the postgraduate programme at the Faculty of Painting and Drawing at the University of the Arts Poznań.
She lives and works in Poznań, Poland.
