Anabel Serna Montoya was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico in 1974. In her home country, she studied architecture. She holds a degree in textile design and holds a master's degree in education.In Spain, she studied at La Llotja art school in Barcelona, as well as at Complutense University in Madrid, where she completed a master's degree in art therapy.His artistic practice is multiple: photography (film and pinhole preferably), oil painting, acrylic, India ink, engraving, drawing, sewing, etc. She likes to experiment with different artistic techniques, according to her emotions and reflections on the world. It can go from miniature art (like ex-votos) to large formats (wall painting), from body painting to object art, from fabric to installations. His exploration of different textures and supports allows him to explore the emotion and symbolism of his plastic creations. She is constantly listening to others and especially excluded people, whether in the street, in a psychiatric environment or in prison.Her works have been exhibited in Mexico (where she has received several national awards) and in Spain, Barcelona and Madrid. In France, she recently illustrated a book of poems by Laurent Bouisset, Dévore l´attente, published by Citron Gare, as well as the special issue of the magazine Nouveaux Délits devoted to contemporary Guatemalan poetry.“Morterranée”, his last personal exhibition (on the theme of refugees who died in the Mediterranean) took place in Crest in February 2018, at the invitation of the Night of Poetry organized in this city.She has extensive experience as an art teacher in Mexico, but also in France. She worked with the prisoners at Baumettes as a plastic arts teacher and continues this task today at the Maison Relais in Vitrolles with a disadvantaged public. She also volunteers as an arts teacher in the AAJT association for refugee minors in Marseille.
