Giuseppe Scandurra (b. 1985), with a background in Physics and then New languages of painting, undertook in 2012 his artistic research, exploiting the multitude of techniques and materials, winning in 2013 Premio Arte with “New Treatise of Existentialist Philosophy”. Lucilla Scalia (b. 1998), after musical studies in different Conservatories and various experiences in the contemporary theatre and performance field, in 2017 started her self-taught artistic path.
Born from an eclectic union, the duo pours into the artistic practice a specular heterogeneity. The versatility of contemporary artistic language unravels the dialectic tension and different means shape the object as a sophistic argument, an attempt to compromise the cognitive elements of reality. The essential and aseptic aesthetics seeked suggests the process of defleshing, the symbolic emptying of the objects which become elements, combined to create new systems of meanings. A new object, an impossible icon, as such, tries to short-circuit the system, to question established values and truths of tradition and authority. Since the recent establishment Giuseppe & Lucilla S. took part in artistic projects in Sicily, exhibiting as a duo for the first time in 2018. Now traveling Italy, they mainly live in Ferrara.
