Eleonora Santanni was
born on 30 December 1964 in Montemurlo (Prato), in Tuscany. On her mother's
side, she comes from a dynasty of "seamstresses for women". She is an
autodidact and expresses instinctive and personal creativity free of artistic
preconception. In her art, poor natural or recycled materials, such as
newspapers, leaves, textiles, bark, and so on, meet with powerful and
sacrilegious colors, which are the trademark symbol of her whole production.
Santanni's aesthetic and
narrative itinerary is dedicated to her personal experience as a woman, in
particular to the psycho-physic rehabilitation process she had to undergo after
her breast cancer. The woman's body represented in her artworks is energetic
and clumsy, a "contemporary Venus" who shows her scars as badges of
honor, as the symbol of the never-ending fight for life, love, and beauty.
Santanni exposed her
artwork in 2015 during Popart Indivenire, in 2016 in Pistoia, in 2017 in Udine,
Venice, and Turin and in 2018 in Barcelona. In 2019, she presented a solo
exhibition in her town, Montemurlo. She also participated to many other events,
including the Fuori Salone in Milan in 2015, the Expo Bologna, the Biennal
Festival of Sacred Art (BIAS) in Palermo in 2018, at Sala Banti in Montemurlo (Prato) and in Florence at Villa Medicea La Petraia with "Le Scapate.Donne oltre le ferite" in 2019. Actually she took part in XII Florence Biennale of contemporary art and design.
