I was born in Itagui, a small town near Medellin/Colombia. My parents, José Gilberto Santamaría and María Teresa Caro; two people of humble origin, were displaced to the city by violence so I grew up in Cali. In Cali I finished secondary school and married Martha Lucia Chávez, we have three children: Carolina, Luis Felipe and Valentina. For more than twenty years I worked as a production operator and in my free time I practiced drawing with graphite.Since childhood I liked the plastic arts and I was always exploring my creative side. through the years I've tried different techniques to give life and color to my art, considering myself a self taught artist with passion and determination to get better everyday.I've participated in painting workshops as a student, in which I had the opportunity to learn from people with more experience, people who have encouraged me to continue my path and also as a guide help others to develop their skills.
I am a person who sees in the plastic arts a way to express feelings.
