Gabriel Sánchez Viveros is an architect from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. To date, he has completed 60 projects between architectural design, interior design and application of art in spaces. He worked for 15 years in Saudi Arabia, where he built and completed architectural and interior design proposals in palaces for various clients including the royal family.
Although he’s an architect by profession, it’s impossible to classify him in a single area since he is creative by nature and that has led him to explore various artistic methods since he was a child. Currently and for some years, he has prioritized the development of his career as a visual artist. His work is manifested in several disciplines such as sculpture, art-object, painting, photography, engraving, among others; but what makes his work so particular is that the artist juxtaposes concepts and materials typical of architecture in his pieces.
In the last 4 years, his artistic work has been shown individually and collectively in Mexico and abroad in more than 30 exhibitions, which include:
Synergy: From Manila to Acapulco in the Zhou B Art Center, Chicago (2019), Flora’s Soul in the Galería Oscar Román, Mexico City (2019), Rojo: Historias Sobre Papel Amate in the Museo de Culturas Populares, Mexico City (2018), Flora’s Soul in the Latin American Art Fair, San Diego, California (2018), El Origen in the Palacio de la Autonomía, Mexico City (2017), Del Boceto a La Vida, in the Palacio de la Autonomía, Mexico City (2017), Woven Heritage in the A4 gallery, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (2017), ROT in Bad Hersfeld-Rotenburg, Germany (2017), Entre Líneas in the Galería Ixcateopan, Acapulco, Mexico (2017), Islamic Art Revival Series in Dallas, Texas (2015 and 2014), Undress & Not, Barebrush (2014) in New York City.
During 2018, Gabriel Sánchez Viveros exhibited his collection El Origen individually, and participated in several collective exhibitions in Mexico and abroad. Among these exhibits are IPAF, Latin American Art Fair, The Postal Palace of Mexico City and CODEME.
So far in 2019, he has presented several exhibitions, including Flora’s Soul, which is his most recent collection, the collective exhibition of The Beijing International Art Biennale, among others nationally and internationally.
