*The creative process, became earlier in her life the ground and palliative for her emotional needs. Functioning as a catalyst for resolution, integration and connection with the outside world. This vision of art as a mediator and problem solving process is maintained as the background of her work.Interested in the intersections of the several studies on consciousness, like Buddhism and science (as physics, psychology and cognitive neuroscience) and the anthropocene questions. The creative process equals her awareness development and relation to the world. She investigates her personal biography and the concept of narrative identity, personal archive and memory, promoting social interaction and awareness through participative projects, using her personal life experience and wasted materials.
The artist starts her university studies in Visual Education Teaching Methods in the Polytechnic Institute of Higher Education of Castelo Branco in Portugal. Being transferred, after the first year, to Fine Arts University in Lisbon, where she received her M.A. in Communication Design. During that period, with the Erasmus program scholarship, she attends the Painting course in the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice.
Her professional activity had the first steps in Milan as a graphic artist. Collaborating with different studios, magazines and institutions as a designer and an illustrator. Later she moves to Venice as the Art Director of the independent publishing house, West Zone Publishing. In that context she develops the image of the catalogues and exhibitions of several artists, such as Nan Goldin, Richard Serra, Dennis Hopper, Brice Marden, among others. The experience of direct contact with this international artists was very enriching and in a certain way determined not only her decision to become a full-time artist but her relation to her artwork as well. Once the house she was sharing with the editor became the headquarters for the publishing house, they hosted the artists during their editorial project development. In one of those occasions, the purchase of a painting of hers by Nan Goldin, already a well known and highly regarded artist, as well as her comment, was a significant occurrence that remained in her memory: 'you may keep on doing design, but consider your art.'
Back in Lisbon she continues working as a designer and illustrator expanding to set and costume design for theater. Simultaneously, she starts in a more assertive way, working in their personal artwork and showing it.In her teaching experience (visual education) and in her work as an art therapist, the idea of the creative process as mediator is also visible. Transmitting the idea of art as a process of self expression and a tool for awareness and problem solving. She developed the inSitu project, an art Lab residence for organizations and institutions. The aim of this relational program is to promote human values, global awareness, creativity and fulfillment trough art work. The artist latest project uses plastic waste and is part of a vast awareness program about plastic reduction and recycling.
Her body of work encompasses painting, encaustic, photography, video and installation. Works held in private collections in the U.S.A, France, Germany, Italy and Portugal.
