Hylde Salerno (born Matilde), born in 1984, was born and
lives in Sarno (SA). After a degree in languages with an address "art and
entertainment" at the University of Naples "The Oriental", she
starts teaching the English language and works as a secondary school
teacher. A lover of the arts as a child,
she came seriously closer to painting in 1998 after a post-traumatic shock .
Art helps her to relieve anxiety and shape her unexpressed fears. Thus she began a research path in the world of
abstract and conceptual art, proposing a painting focused on the use of colors,
mainly cold, and their multiple expressive possibilities. Starting from the oil
color, she then turns to mixed techniques, preferring acrylic. she integrates
photos to her works, placing her body at the center of her artistic narrative.
Among the various experiments touched, some installations stand out. At a very
young age, she participated in poetry and painting competitions, presenting
canvases with matching verses. More adult, she takes part in artistic
collectives of great national importance such as the Salerno
Biennale,"Women" at the Museum of History M.O.A. Eboli,
Artemediterranea Biennale in Pisa, "Art for Justice" at the Complesso
San Giovanni di Cava de' Tirreni, "Survival" at the C.A.M. in
Casoria. She participates in some of the most important cultural exhibitions in
her country, such as Settembrelibri. She has some
publications in official catalogues. In 2020 her catalogue "Dimenticanze"
is published by the publishing house Arpeggio Libero. In 2022 the same publishing house published "CLaustrophobia".
