Greivin A. Salas is an upcoming
Costa Rican artist who expresses an intense feeling for the beauty, bounty,
and mystery of the landscape of his country. Raised in the natural setting of
the rural countryside bounded by rivers, forests, animals, plants, and commercial
horticulture, his work reflects a unique interpretation of his close connection
with the natural world he was born into.
On EARTH Day 2022, Greivin
launched a collection of selected 18 pieces entitled The Living Colors, A Journey into the Transformation of Costa Rica Rural Landscapes, available on YouTube. This is a timeless story regarding human migration and occupation of pristine natural landscapes, their ensuing transformation, and much needed conservation today.
Through his collection the viewer enters the setting of thick, humid forests filled with bursts of tropical sunlight. One feel encapsulated within the beauty, bounty and mystery of a world that conveys the feeling of deep shadows and gorgeous colors. All pieces were produced during the pandemic and post pandemic periods (2021 and 2022).
Greivin A. Salas won the second place as top digital artist in the global competition Climate Tech Run 2022 part of the Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP 27) in Sharm el Seij, Egypt. He also has been nominated to Premio Nacional de Artes Visuales Francisco Amighetti 2022 in Costa Rica.
