Yoichi Sakamoto is a media artist, engineer, architect and researcher born in Tokyo.He started his career as an architect at construction office, and now he works in Rhizomatiks Research where he creates installations and stage performances with using new technology like a drone, AR, machine learning and mechanical technologies.
He also makes some personal art installations; his works have been exhibited in Inter-Communication Centre in Japan, Dutch Design Week 2018, Amsterdam Light Festival and so on. His work, CraftScape, is consist of only a LED, motors and a reflection plate which is razor cut special a pattern. In spite of the simple structure, it creates a rich and complexed projection image that evokes a waving water perspective. He expresses scientific phenomena such as optics and vision by using a simple mechanical structure that everyone can understand easily.
