I grew up in south Texas along the Mexican border, and at the age of 25 moved to Philadelphia. My early years were spent studying art and education in Texas, San Miguel de Allende, and Philadelphia with the goal of becoming a college professor. After teaching a few years I transitioned into commercial interior design where I spent 35 years practicing and building my own interior design business in Chicago. During the later years of my interior profession I returned to my first love and began making art again while maintaining my practice. When my husband and I moved to Florida I was able to devote myself full time to my art. In 2019 we moved to the south of Spain, now living in a small village south of Granada. During my "American life" my work was abstract soft pastel which was influenced a lot by my love of primitive African art and then by life in a tropical environment. Upon moving to Spain I began focusing on painting in oil and acrylic. My work has been greatly influenced by my life in Spain - the music, the landscape, the culture.
