Dario
Romano, painter .
Born in
Brescia in 1962, he lives and works in Flero, Brescia, Italy.
Fellow of the Società per le Belle Arti ed Esposizione di
Milano.
He began
his studies in the pictorial arts at a young age, under the aegis of several
important local artists
Having
graduated in the Pictorial Arts, he then took private lessons in sculpture and
ceramics, given by established contemporary artists.
Having
gained valuable experience at the end of the 1990s in a company for art design
and creation, he moved to Pesaro Urbino, joining a national market leader in
the creation of theatrical sets, where, in his role as painter and set
designer, he was head of the art lab and personally responsible for applying
the finishing touches when the pieces were installed in theatres both home and
abroad.
Since 2002,
he has taught the annual course in Painting and Design at the “Accademia dei
Nove” at Rezzato (Brescia), which is popular with both art lovers and
established artists looking to improve their own techniques.
Since 2018,
he has organised a similar type of course privately for the Don Orione
Institute in Botticino (Brescia).
At the turn
of the century, he began to exhibit his works more actively in various
Collections organised within the Lombardy region, including the I and II
International Biennale of Brescia, as well as an important joint exhibition in
2016.
In 2017,
the Hernandez Art Gallery organized his first personal “Animal’s World”, which
lead to his selection and membership of the Società per le Belle Arti ed
Esposizione Permanente di Milano, which, in turn, lead to an ever-greater
exposure at both national and international level, in collaboration with
well-known galleries, such as the Galleria Farini of Bologna, then Venice,
Padua and Palermo via ART NOW, the Arthill Gallery of London, and the Espace
Thorigny and Galerie Thuillier in Paris. Then there was the Stricoff Gallery in
New York via ARTBOX Projects 1.0 in 2018, Budapest, the Biennale of Mantua
Artexpo 2019 (winner of the Painting Category), the Biennale of Milan 2019 and
in 2020 Milan once more, as well as Florence and Monreale.
In 2021, he
was chosen to show two works at Ferrara at the first Sgarbi Awards, then Rome,
Pavia and the personal exhibition “Animal’s World 2021” at Palazzo Martinengo
Colleoni in Brescia.
His works
appear in private collections and have been published in prestigious journals
and art catalogues.
He won the
cover competition for the issue of the art magazine “BIANCOSCURO” in 2020.
… this is
an artistic exploration, by means of oil glazing, that places the animal
kingdom at the centre of human interest, reaffirming a long-forgotten respect (Dario
Romano)
“…Dario
Romano loves to express force through his canvases, where the animal kingdom
takes a full-bodied form, restoring that energy and indomitable freedom to a
category that is as loved as it is mistreated by mankind. His compositions are
refined and explode with an energy that finds a parallel in contemporary
society…and they do so by means of “joyful and confident brushstrokes” that
make us believe whatever he wants us to see.” (dossier Vittorio Sgarbi –
Artisti 20 – Mondadori)
