Liane Roditi, born and raised in Rio de
Janeiro, graduated in Dance at the University Faculdade da Cidade. The artist
studied at the School of Fine Arts at UFRJ and attended several courses at the
School of the Visual Arts of Parque Lage, under the teaching of renowned
teachers.
Varying the use of acrylic, oil and watercolor there is an antique feel and a contemporary freeness in her work. She portrays
the senses and feelings, with a mixture of depth and lightness.
Portraits and nature are the tonic of her work,
inspired by several old masters such as Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, William
Turner and Caravaggio.
During the year of 2020, influenced by the
pandemic, a chiaroscuro trend took over her paintings, rather than the previous
ones where a clear reference to the sublimity of the sea and nature subjects
was revealed through the expressiveness of her pictorial gesture, influenced by
William Turner seascapes. But gradually and over time all the supposed voracity
that would bring her closer to a Turner is revealing itself closer to a calmer
state of being. The artist also works with performance and video art, inspired by Marina
Abramovic, using the body as medium.
Liane has participated in various collective
exhibitions at EAV in Parque Lage in 2019, at the Mauá Cultural Space in the
RB1 - RJ Building in 2004, the USK Rio at the Monumento a Estácio de Sá in 2019
and the 5th Buzios Art Circuit 2020. She is a member of the Urban Sketchers
group and has drawings published in the virtual book USKBrasil.
In 2019 she set up her studio and dedicates herself to visual arts full time, joining the dance expertise in painting.
