I am a contemporary portrait artist working primarily in hyperrealistic watercolour, exploring themes of identity, beauty, and representation. Originally from the market town of Garstang in northwest England, I discovered art at a young age and quickly recognised it as both a creative outlet and a way of understanding the world around me. At 18, I moved to London to pursue that love, completing a Foundation Diploma in Fine Art and later a BA in Graphic Communication Design at Central Saint Martins UAL.
My work is deeply informed by my own experience of living with vitiligo. Through portraiture, I explore the human face not only as a likeness but as a vessel for identity, emotion, resilience, and social perception. I am fascinated by the stories carried within every face and seek to challenge conventional beauty standards by celebrating individuality and visible difference. My paintings invite viewers to look beyond first impressions, question assumptions, and recognise the depth, dignity, and humanity present in every subject.
Working in watercolour allows me to capture subtle tonal shifts, textures, and emotional nuances with precision and sensitivity. The delicacy of the medium mirrors the fragility and resilience of identity itself. Rather than idealising my subjects, I aim to reveal the often-overlooked details that communicate character, history, and authenticity. Ultimately, my work advocates for a broader and more inclusive understanding of beauty while empowering those whose stories are too often underrepresented.
Alongside my artistic practice, I work within the creative technology sector, where my career has evolved from design into the emerging field of artificial intelligence. Balancing traditional portraiture with technological innovation has given me a unique perspective on creativity - one that values craftsmanship, observation, and human connection while remaining open to new possibilities and ways of seeing.
Over the course of my career, my work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours at Mall Galleries, Times Square in New York, the World Trade Center, London Art Biennale, and public exhibitions across London and the United States. In 2025, I was honoured to receive the VAA Best New & Emerging Artist Award, and in 2026 my work was selected for both the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours Exhibition and the Embracing Our Differences international billboard exhibition in Florida.
At the heart of my practice, is a simple belief: every face carries a narrative worth seeing. Guided by the advice to "draw what you see, not what you know," I approach each portrait with patience, curiosity, and empathy. Through my work, I hope to encourage viewers to see difference not as something to be hidden, but as a source of strength, beauty, and connection.
