Anya Rise is a multidisciplinary artist and analog film photographer based in Tokyo. Mokuji.1634 is her personal project through which she explores themes of dissolution, memory, and identity by combining atmospheric photography, hand-drawn works, and experimental mixed media.
Her images often depict transitional states — moments suspended between disappearance and transformation. She seeks to capture not what is visible, but what resonates beneath the surface: frequencies of inner shifts, echoes of the unknown, the presence of what cannot be fully grasped.
In addition to her independent artistic practice, she works as a keyframe animator at a Japanese animation studio, contributing to large-scale productions while developing her own film and visual art projects.
Her current body of work, shaped by analog textures and poetic ambiguity, represents a continuous attempt to locate the self within liminal space — not to illustrate a narrative, but to listen to it as it forms.
