Kathleen Rhee is an accomplished abstract artist based on the Gold Coast, Australia. Her works are held in collections in Australia, the USA, and across Europe. Her softly muted mark making, textured brush stokes, energising pinks, deep blues and turquoise greens add a sense of peace to people’s lives.
Born and raised on the Brisbane/Gold Coast hinterland, she has always sought out the natural world. Kathleen’s large canvases bring the outdoors indoors. Translating the landscape as both memory and feeling, Kathleen has a strong connection and love for nature that shines through in her artistic practice. The immersion into the local environment is integral to her art making practice and is an endless source of inspiration that infiltrates her abstract works.
Kathleen has an extensive background in art studies and has worked in the design world since leaving high school, now dedicated to painting full-time from 2016. Since then she has become one of the country’s rising stars and fastest selling artists. Kathleen was an Australian Prize finalist in 2020, 2021 and her pieces were also featured on national TV series in 2019 and 2020.
Kathleen studied art history, drawing and painting at Brisbane Institute of Art and ANU Art School Canberra. She studied at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York City and has completed a postgraduate certificate in abstract painting through The Museum of Modern Art, New York.
