Paula de Motta is a self-taught artist
from Valencia who has made a significant impact in the world of contemporary
art, distinguished by her ability to blend her background in engineering with
her innate passion for artistic expression.
Her artistic journey began in childhood
when she explored oil painting at the age of 10. However, as she progressed in
her education, she chose to focus on a career in civil engineering, temporarily
suspending her artistic practice. During her years of study at the Polytechnic
University of Valencia, she gained a deep understanding of the fundamental
concepts of civil engineering, establishing a strong foundation for her future
career in that field. After completing her education in engineering, Paula worked
in various engineering and management roles in Spain, Italy, the United
Kingdom, and South Korea.
Despite her commitment to engineering,
her passion for art never faded. Approximately 10 years ago, she decided to
reignite her love for painting, this time exploring with acrylics and
experimenting with various textures and techniques. This artistic renaissance
marked the beginning of a new phase in her life, where she began to develop her
unique style in abstract art. Over the years, her work has evolved and matured,
and she has found her voice in the world of contemporary art. What sets her art
apart is her ability to convey deep emotions and address important themes.
Paula has primarily focused on nature, sustainability and
women in
her artistic work. Her "Ocean" series aims to bring the ocean closer
to the viewer and share the serenity she finds in it. Her "Earth"
collection uses abstract colors and shapes inspired by nature to capture the
essence and harmony of our natural environment. Her "RE (reduce, reuse,
recycle, rethink)" collection reflects her commitment to sustainability by
using recycled materials and giving them a second life as artworks. This choice
of materials not only nurtures her creativity but also communicates an
important message about reuse and environmental conservation.
Paula has taken her art to the
international stage through various exhibitions in Seoul, South Korea, where
she currently resides,
Miami and Madrid.
Her
work has resonated with a global audience, and she has collaborated with
renowned organizations, including the Institute of Science and Technology for
Sustainable Energy and Mobility of the National Research Council of Italy,
which selected one of her paintings as their logo. Additionally, she
participated in the prestigious International Contemporary Art Fair in Monaco.
Today, Paula de Motta balances her
passion for painting with her career and family life. Her art continues to
evolve and expand, and her commitment to sustainability remains a fundamental
pillar in her work. With a solid academic background and a clear vision, Paula
de Motta is leaving a significant mark on the world of contemporary art and
environmental awareness. Her ability to successfully combine her talents in
engineering and art serves as an inspiring example of how passions can converge
and enrich our lives in unexpected and meaningful ways.
