Part one: Born an architect (1953) into a family of
architects, I enjoyed a challenging design career as partner in my father & ex-husband’s prominent firm, designing throughout the Middle-East. Also practiced in the US from 1989 to 1994. My firm has won prestigious
competitions & was selected among the first 100 contestants in the
International GEM Great Cairo Museum competition. Nominated Woman of the
Year for architectural achievements in 2001. In joint venture with Hecate International I worked on several large
scale residential & hotel/resort projects in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan & Egypt. Was married to architect Sany Jamal (1980 to 2003), we have a 36 year old son, Nadim, based in Dubai.
Part
two: In 2003, shortly after a friendly divorce, fate had it that Edouard Koenig, my friend from those Oxford days when we were classmates at the School of Architecture reappeared in my life, a fairy tale story that
ended well, us living happily on the blessed island of Mauritius! While commuting back & forth between Mauritius & Beirut, I never quite managed to sever my roots. I worked with my architect husband Edouard until 2015 when I
decided it was time to act upon a life long dream, that of dedicating all my time... to art.Today I have my own studio & spend hours on end exploring my potential. This is the first time that I apply to such a prestigious event as Arte Laguna. It is all very exciting!
