Kelly (Zixuan) Qi (b. 1990) is a digital mixed-media artist and visual storyteller whose practice explores identity, memory, self-worth, and inner transformation.
Working primarily through digital collage, Qi creates dreamlike visual worlds shaped by childhood photographs, personal memories, symbolic imagery, and astrology. Rather than treating astrology as prediction, she uses it as a visual language for mapping emotional patterns, inner conflict, and shifting identities. Her childhood self appears repeatedly in her work as both storyteller and protagonist, allowing her to examine the relationship between past and present selves.
Originally trained in fashion design and pattern making, Qi brings a strong sense of structure, composition, and material sensitivity to her digital practice. Her works often reference tactile surfaces such as linen, felt, embroidery, and stitching, using them as metaphors for repair, connection, and self-reconstruction.
Through layering, fragmentation, and reconstruction, Qi transforms personal and found imagery into poetic inner landscapes. Her work invites viewers to slow down and reflect on the hidden, forgotten, or vulnerable parts of the self.
