After studying law and political science, Jane Puylagarde turned to fashion design and created her brand, becoming one the promising young designers.
Painting became obvious after an initiatory trip to Mexico, end of 80’s. There, Jane discovered the fascinating work of an Indian ceramist who painted different shapes on her works, including small dots.
The miracle of drops had just acted on Jane who appropriated this gesture and reinvented it by developing an art and a unique technique journalists like to call the “new pointillism”.
Her technique consists of growing numerous acrylic drops, with various sizes, working on a flat canvas. She uses light to get shadows with each drop, as a second brush allowing the piece to turn to life.
Since the 2000s, her works have been noticed in Paris, starting with 2 permanent works in the Imagine Institute, and exhibitions in Saint-Germain-des-Près. Jane‘s works were also acquired by collectors in Geneva and Barcelona. The decisive turning point came with social media which brought her on the international scene.
Today, the artist pursues her artistic path in her Paris and Formentera studios.
Jane Puylagarde continues to develop her technique and proves the ultimate challenge for an artist is the reinvention's power.
