My name is Karine Prette, I am a French artist and painter, born in Marseille, France in 1966. After living in the south of France and in Paris, I settled in Brussels, Belgium 15 years ago. An inspiring and vibrant city to practice my art.
I am a graduate of the Uccle School of Art. In addition to the courses at the academy, I painted for 8 years at the Rosmorduc collective studio in Brussels and took art history courses at the IRSHAAB (Institut Royal Supérieur de l'Histoire De l'Art et d'Archéologie) in Brussels, before opening my own studio in Brussels in 2017.
Since then, I have alternated my work in situ with stays in artists' residencies in the Ardennes or Andalusia. These were rich and rewarding experiences immersed in nature that tremendously benefit my research. I get inspiration from reading, going to exhibitions, and making artistic discoveries.
Art is a second life.
It took a personal upheaval for me to allow myself to pick up a paintbrush. Like a rebirth, painting has been an integral part of my life for the last 12 years. My work is based on the diversity of emotions. In universes as different as portrait and abstraction, I engage in a pictorial dialogue with each painting.
