Sofia Ponte work explores the design of daydreaming devices for the public realm supported by the concept of “daydreaming in public.” These devices fill temporary physical and emotional needs in public areas and are designed to contribute to a more intimate and creative questioning of the public space in urban landscapes.
is an artist, researcher and guest assistant professor at the School of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP), Portugal. She holds a PhD from the University of Porto with the thesis Transforming Functional Art into a Museum Object (2016) and completed her science master’s in Visual Culture at the School of Architecture and Planning of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), in 2008. Sofia Ponte is member of the Research Institute for Design, Media and Culture (ID+), of the University of Porto.
