Maryna Ponomaryova is an interdisciplinary visual artist born in Ukraine, with a long experience of life and work in Italy. She currently lives and works in Göttingen, Germany. Her work explores identity, inner transformation and liminal states in an era of rapid technological change and social pressure. She researches the psychological processes through which a person tries to preserve sensitivity, wholeness and connection to oneself and the surrounding world.
Her practice is rooted in her authorial method, Archetypal Dissonance, where conflicting emotional and visual elements meet within one image. Working across expanded photography, digital collage, artist film, writing, sound and mixed media, Ponomaryova creates archetypal images that give visible form to emotional states. Among her ongoing projects is The Creator’s Path. Six Emotional Temperatures.
Her background brings together musical, pedagogical and medical education, along with professional training in visual arts. A long period of physical rehabilitation became a turning point, allowing these lines to gather into a coherent artistic practice and deepening her interest in bodily perception, inner transformation, rhythm, archetypes and space.
She studied visual arts through the online professional program Master of Visual Arts at the iA Institute of Visual Arts, completed in 2026.
In 2024, her project What Do the Spikelets Whisper About? Field Portraits received an Honorable Mention at the ND Awards.
