Known for her love of the sea, seascape artist Katherine Polack aims to evoke a sense of calm and happiness through the colour palette she uses which varies between hues of deep blue and teal.
Katherine is a Canadian mixed media seascape artist who resides in Orono, Ontario, Canada surrounded by nature and infinite inspiration. The root of her inspiration comes from her upbringing along the Pacific Coast in Lima, Peru where she and her family would spend their summers at the beach.
After returning home from a trip to Australia in 2017, Katherine’s childhood memories of the sea became prominent and she felt overcome with an urge to paint. The unpredictable beauty of the sea is her main influence which helps her depict both the power and tranquility of the waves.
"Being near water evokes a calming and magical sensation that seems to freeze time. The power of the ocean has an ever-changing beauty which I love to depict in my work".
Katherine explores and researches marine life which has become the focus of her recent artwork. In August 2022, Katherine began to donate a portion of her sales toward ocean conservation at the end of every month. Art collectors can choose one of three Canadian ocean conservation institutes when purchasing one of Katherine’s pieces (Canadian Sea Turtle Network, Oceana Canada, and Canadian Whale Institute).
Her work has been featured in the Summer 22’ edition of Durham Region’s EAST Magazine while her large scale tropical painting “Aloha” was voted top 50 in Canada in 2021 by The Marketer Magazine. Katherine’s work has been exhibited at Propeller Art Gallery, The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Oakville Art in the Park, Lake Scugog Studio Tour, I Deal Coffee, and Oronofest.
