Flavia Andrea Pili (Uta, 1999) is a visual artist currently based between Bologna and Cagliari.
She graduated in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice in 2023, following a study period at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, and is currently enrolled in the MA Photography program at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna.
Her practice spans painting, drawing, and photography, focusing on the dialogue between sign, color, and material culture. Archaeological artifacts and popular traditions serve as symbolic and formal references, reimagined through a contemporary lens to explore themes of time, transformation, and reinterpretation.
Alongside her pictorial work, Pili investigates the photographic image through hybrid experimentation with analog and digital techniques. The landscape—often repeated and deconstructed—becomes a testing ground for perception, not aimed at realism but at opening new paths of meaning and interpretation.
In her ongoing series Magic Box, for instance, images come alive through projection: once static, the photograph dissolves when cast onto external surfaces, adapting to their textures and contours. This process reveals the inherent fragility and ephemerality of the image, which becomes fluid and altered through its interaction with matter.
Pili has participated in group exhibitions and collaborated with Reza Deghati at the Venice International Photo Festival in 2022. She has worked in photographic studios in both Cagliari and Madrid and was awarded the Kappa Noun Award in 2025.
Her work is represented by Labo Bosa, a contemporary art gallery based in Sardinia.
