BIO
Based in Switzerland Polish abstract painter Ludwika Pilat originally trained in Architecture which influenced the structure of her compositions, proportions and use of colour. After being committed to precise technical drawings and developing concept sketches into renderings, Ludwika felt that she needed to create with media that would allow her to be more expressive and emotive in her work. She began experimenting with abstract painting using acrylic paint, often including collaged elements. It is this process to understand art doesn't have to be accurate and perfect that has now developed into a distinct aesthetic. Her work is influenced by nature, science, her travels and the people she meets. She regularly participates in exhibitions, recently in Be Rossocinabro in Rome, Italy.
STATEMENT
I was always good at following reason while confusing what I want with what I think I should want and I needed a way to better show my emotions in art. I've learnt to listen to myself and slowly unlock that heavy duty container where my feelings were kept. I rediscovered and incorporated collage elements in some of my acrylic paintings and with this I want to provoke thoughts and questions. I'm not striving for perfection anymore. I'm expressing something more important with textures, colours and ambiguous words.
