Petrò

Alberto Petrò (b. 1980) is an Italian photographer whose passion for the medium began in

the transitional era from analog to digital photography. His formative experience came from

exploring a rare private collection that spanned 150 years of photographic history, immersing

him in the tactile and visual legacy of the art form’s pioneers. This profound engagement with

historical images informs his technical curiosity and conceptual approach.

Since 2001, Petrò’s work has been exhibited in solo and group shows both nationally and

internationally, with notable exhibitions at Museo Santa Giulia (Brescia), Collegium

Hungaricum (Berlin), and the 54th Venice Biennale (Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Turin),

among others. His photographs have been featured in prominent cultural venues, including

Lucca Digital Photo Festival, Galerie Rudolfv (Amsterdam), and Oredaria Contemporary

Arts (Rome).

Beyond his artistic practice, Petrò actively contributes to the cultural landscape. He cofounded

the cultural association CARME, where he curated Mario Cresci’s 2018 exhibition

Fanne parte! Storie fotografiche condivise. He has also organized cultural events at Inlimbo

Studio, collaborating with leading figures such as Massimo Minini, Roger Ballen, Ferdinando

Scianna, and Marco Vallora.
