Matteo Persiani is a figurative painter based in Florence. He grew up in Rome surrounded by a centuries-long artistic tradition that led him to a profound love for art. The great masters from Renaissance became his early teachers, inspiring a deep appreciation for the human figure and its expressive power. Matteo started his artistic journey copying and learning after the artists from the past such as Michelangelo and Raffaello and afterwards began his proper artistic education in Rome under the guidance of a local figurative painter, Gianfranco De Meo.
In 2020 applies for the Florence Academy of Art where he is currently studying and learning the techniques of Realism. In such a variegated and international environment, he developed a more open-minded perspective, oriented to create connections with his artistic peers and with the international artistic scene, willing to travel and explore what the world has to offer to a young artist.
Matteo is fascinated by the exploration of human possibilities in connection with the external and internal world. His aim is to find and represent that invisible thread that links everything and everybody, in space and in time. The subtle whispering of Truth is what he desires to depict and share with the viewer in the attempt of finding an intimate connection with the inner part of ourselves and what goes beyond us but we feel as common to every human being. This ambitious project will be pursued through the representation of the human figure, still-lives and landscapes.
