Carolina Papetti is a performance artist born in Brescia (Italy) in 1992. She grew up halfway between the industrialism of the Lombardy region and the inspiring solitude of a house in Valmareno and in Venice. She started writing at a very young age and then began to expand this practice through dance, theater, performance, video and sound art. Right from the start, creating meant for her to accept and establish a research-relationship with the notion of ambiguity as the desire to investigate aspects of reality that tend to continually escape. After graduating from Liceo Classico Arnaldo, she moved to London where she graduated in Dance Studies at Trinity Laban - Conservatory of Music and Dance and later in Amsterdam where she graduated in Choreography at SNDO - School for new Dance development. She worked as performer with Boris Charmatz, Rodrigo Sobarzo, keyon gaskin and she is currently based in Amsterdam where she lives and creates her works. Papetti's works always exist in more than one form; on the border between performative space and its boundaries. Her artistic practice is multimedia and interdisciplinary, in constant research and creation of sounds, words, songs, costumes, images movements and objects, which are understood as a disturbing gaze that explores a mental and social world. Her works revolve around the notions of self-design, deconstruction of language, sexuality and the fascination with the unconscious and its generative potential.
