Ornstein is known for her abstract imagery and use of unusual materials such as mylar, cardboard, etc. Her work spans a range of media, from sculpture, painting, drawing and collage. She graduated with an MFA from Yale School of Art and BFA from PCA. Ornstein first exhibited at Willard Gallery with Susan Rothenberg. Solo shows include Willard Gallery, Vibeke Levy Fine Art (NYC), 718 Gallery (Brooklyn), Cirrus Gallery (LA, curated by Richard Armstrong) and Douglas College Art Gallery (Rutgers NJ). Group shows include the Willard Gallery, Baskerville & Watson, Terry Dintenfass (NYC), H.F. Manes Gallery (NYC), Antoinette Torrens Gallery (NYC), Amos Eno Gallery, Kavanaugh Gallery, and Las Laguna Gallery, BWAC Gallery (BK) and more. Ornstein has received numerous awards for her work including 2 NEAs, a Tiffany Foundation Award, Creative Arts Public Service Award and a Ford Foundation Grant. She has been on the cover of the Paris Review and had extensive interviews in Alkali Magazine and Art Reveal Magazine in 2021.
