As a visual artist, I work across multiple mediums to communicate my ideas. Whether I’m baking a cake, composing a tattoo, or designing a new product the core of my work lies in the inventive spirit and Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘curiositá.’ I believe that creativity, when channelled for wellbeing, can inspire not only innovation but also deeper personal and organisational transformation.
For over 14 years as an Associate Lecturer in Art, Design and NPD, and 2 years as a Young Enterprise Judge and mentor, I’ve been privileged to develop future talent, guiding students in Art, Design & Enterprise. My leadership at Art [Space] was driven by a desire to empower groups through creative expression, fostering an environment where art became a tool for both personal development and communal connection. My diverse experiences, including projects at Evason Product Design, volunteering at community gardens to facilitating with the National Gallery London, have equipped me with a unique blend of creative and technical skills, all aimed at promoting creative wellbeing.
I’ve faced significant challenges recently, including unemployment due to illness and workplace depression. Despite these difficulties – I’ve recently managed to start rebuilding my life and career – that’s why I quote my volunteer community gardener amigo Kellie McQuaid “We all need SH!T to Grow”. This statement that Kellie said to me when I was at a low ebb, will be on the side of my art van. It’s there as a reminder that we can turn around the negatives and use them for growth, and it’s my duty to do that for myself and to show others how to do it too.
I’m a talented artist and product designer with a passion for community, creativity and innovation. Transitioning from my previous role as an art, design, and new product development lecturer, I’m now starting my second life as a self-employed visual artist and a creative wellbeing mentor.
