Maria Teresa Nunez (Achet) is a painter and sculptor born in 1953 in Mexico city, she has shown throughout her life a tendency for oniric surrealism, which has given birth to countless works and collaborations in the arts. She lived her childhood in a small town in the province of Guanajuato, where her vision and artistic talent got specific colors and shapes, which she would later on shoow in her artwork, she studied plastic arts in instituto allende, in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. Later on at her arrival to mexico city, she continued to emperiment with varios techniques and studios, getting more and more involved with the art scene of the time, working with many recognized masters in the arts, who furthered her formation. some woth mentioning are: painter Irma Cervantes, Melqueades Egido, master of arts and major bolivian artist, Luis Nishizawa, master of arts; Gina Pankrova, bulgarian master of arts and Miguel Angel Suarez master of arts.
She has been a constantly producing artist both in painting and sculpture alike, she has been recognized at both her home country and internationally, and has been showcased in several art Expos both individually and collectivelly, worth mentioning among these: The Palace of fine arts (Palacio de Bellas Artes) in M?xico city; in the Mexico City museum (Museo de la Ciudad de Mexico); in the Museum of Contemporary art of Toluca (Museo de Arte Contempor?neo de Toluca); in the Museum of Modern Art (Museo de Arte Moderno) in Mexico city; in the museum of Cuernavaca (Museo de la ciudad de Cuernavaca) in Morelos; in the "Ollin Yolliztli" cultural center in Mexico city; in the Asutrian Embassy in Mexico city; in Mexico city's Main plaza (Zocalo) Mexico city; at the Borders inc. gallery Miami, Fl. USA; a collaboration with muralist Julio Carrasco in sala Carlos Chavez de la UNAM (National University), in casa Jaime Sabines, at the Morelos University (Universidad Autonoma de Morelos), she casted a bronze sculpture of virgen de la maralunga de 2.00 x. 1.90 for a prestigious restaurant in Mexico City, in the Leo Trotsky Institute for the right to asylum, Mexico city; her work was selected in 2003 to go to the grand prix international de la peinture a l'eau in Tregastel, France; and in 2004 she was one of the representatives of mexico in the biennale internazionale dell'arte contemporanea, in Firenze. Italy; also in 2004 her work won a contest to be the corporate image for an international women?s day event which was held at the Zocalo of Mexico City; she most currently was in the XII bienal Rufino Tamayo, in Mexico city.Â
