Aleksandr Nariadchikov is a 26-year-old multimedia artist from Saint Petersburg, Russia, currently based in Uppsala, Sweden. His art is a compelling fusion of black-and-white photography, oil and acrylic paints, and colored pens, often enhanced by digital and interactive elements. Influenced by artists such as Masataka Nakano, Salvador Dalí, Wu Guanzhong, Simon Stålenhag, and David Lynch, Aleksandr's work draws from virtual art, postmodernism, abstract expressionism, and décollage. These influences are evident in his dynamic compositions, which blend reality with the surreal, creating a bridge between the tangible and the abstract.
Using a Fuji Rensha 16 camera, Aleksandr captures the essence of urban life, focusing on the contrasts and fleeting moments of city streets. He meticulously develops and prints his images, adding layers of paint to create a multi-dimensional experience. His art serves as a personal exploration and a form of self-therapy, helping him process feelings of loss and loneliness following the death of both his parents. Through his work, he aims to connect with others who have faced similar challenges, offering a sense of solace and shared experience.
Aleksandr's current project takes place in Hong Kong, where he captures the vibrant contrasts of the city. This project includes elements of video art, further exploring the nuances of urban life. His future work continues to push the boundaries of traditional media, incorporating augmented reality (AR) and innovative materials. One upcoming project will feature printed images on bent acrylic glass, depicting a comatose woman connected to other pieces through AR "breathing" wires, symbolizing the interconnectedness of life and culminating in a tree of life motif.
Pursuing an MPA program at ivart.space (Institute of Visual Arts), Aleksandr also works as a level designer in the gaming industry, contributing to projects like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. His background in mathematics and computer science, combined with his artistic pursuits, equips him with the skills to innovate within the mixed media space, blending technical expertise with creative expression. Aleksandr holds a Master's degree in Applied Informatics from ITMO University, which further supports his ability to integrate complex digital elements into his art.
Aleksandr's work has been recognized with an Honorable Mention in the People and Culture category at the TIFA 2021. By focusing on the details of everyday scenes, he seeks to reveal the hidden beauty and complexity of the world, inviting viewers to see life from a fresh perspective.
